The Shady Porch: Calzone Rolls for Game Day!

Calzone Rolls for Game Day!

Baked Calzone #pizza #calzone #pepperoni #dinner #partyfood #cheeseWhen game day rolls around it naturally generates a festive atmosphere. You wear your team colors,  pull out the team decorations, flags, and pom-poms. However, it is the menu that truly makes the party.  Last weekend, I tried a recipe I found on Family.com that was perfect for any game day menu.

I prepared Calzone rolls served with marinara sauce on the side. We loved them!  Of course, my family loves pizza so I kinda knew I was going to be safe. I especially love this recipe for game day because it can be served as an appetizer or as the entree.

Here's my version of the Easy Calzone Rolls

Baked Calone by The Shady PorchIngredients
2 cans of Pillsbury pizza crust
1 pkg pre-sliced pepperoni
1 cup pre-cooked turkey sausage crumbles
diced ham or ham slices
diced onion, as desired
shredded mozzarella cheese, as desired
Parmesan cheese
Italian seasoning, as desired
1/2 cup pizza or marinara sauce

I have a hard time giving amounts or even ingredients on this recipe...everyone has individual likes/dislikes when it comes to pizza, so load it up with whatever ingredients your family and friends love. It will be awesome!

Calzone with cheese and
seasonings added
Directions: Roll out each loaf of dough as directed on package.

Layer onion, ham, sausage, and pepperoni down the center of the dough lengthwise.

Top the meats with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese for each.

Calzone rolled and sealed
Fold the short ends of each loaf in about 1/2 inch and seal. Roll from the long sides and pinch well to seal the entire loaf. You should have 2 long rolls. (Note-we decided to use egg whites to help seal the dough).

Bake, seam side down on a greased baking sheet in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Cut each roll into approx 8 slices and serve with marinara for dipping, if desired.
