The Shady Porch: Earth Day Celebration Challenge!

Earth Day Celebration Challenge!

Welcome to the Earth Day Celebration Challenge!

The Challenge - Go through your garbage (a.k.a. - trash, disposables, refuse) and re-purpose, recycle/up-cycle or reuse one item each day from Monday, April 16th to Friday, April 20th
  • If you can only participate one day, that's okay, too!
  • The point is to give new life to something we would ordinarily pitch as a way to celebrate Earth Day. We are to be good stewards to what God has given us! (Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 8:6-8).
  • It can be re-purposed for a one-time use or something more long term.
Want to join me?

*Keep everything family friendly!
*Link up your own projects...something that you've re-purposed, or recycled.
* Link to a specific post  - NOT your Home page!  No Etsy shops, linky parties or
   businesses, please.
When Linking up tell us what you've recycled in the 'name' field.

I reserve the right to remove links that are in violation of these requests!

By linking to the Rock 'N Share, you are giving me permission to post your photos in feature posts on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and/or Google+.

I will be featuring several projects on my Google+, Facebook or Twitter pages
throughout the week
I will also share the Top 3 projects with the most pageviews here on the
Porch Parade next Sunday.
Join the fun and let's see what we can rescue and re-create!
If you don't have a blog, just email your picture and a brief title for your project to theshadyporch(at)gmail.com and I will link it up for you.
Feel free to take a badge, invite a friend...or not. This is about good stewardship and sharing great ideas.

What a great idea to have a Earth Day Celebration. I am sharing our Re Purposed Kitchen that is in two parts. Thanks for hosting and have a great week!

  2. This is such a great idea...I didn't take a picture of it, so I'll just share here. We use plastic shopping bags to contain the scooped kitty litter. Today, I just refilled a bin next to the litter box with lots of plastic sacks from my grocery trip. Not very exciting, but I do love knowing that I am reusing and doing my part for the environment.

    1. Thank you! It sounds like your idea will benefit you and the double use for the bag is Earth Friendly.

  3. Oh this is right up my alley!! I shared ideas for repurposing makeup tube into a nest, a plastic bottle to an oriole nest vase, and a raisin container into beautiful gift packaging. I am SO into recycling and repurposing that I want to say a special thank you for hosting this party to raise awareness ! Hugs, Christina

  6. Well phooey...I've worked on my project to link up...and, I'm just not quite sure it is going to be ready :(...I might just have to link it up to the regular party next week. I was making a paper mache letter out of a cereal box to link up...it is still in the drying stage right now...MAYBE it will dry so that I can paint it and pictures, but doubtful. Regardless, love that you had this linky party to promote Earth Day. Great Idea...just wish I could have got my project completed in time...too many appointments this week!

    1. I've seen a couple of the big letter projects...I even pinned it to my "want to try" board. If the linky party closes before you're finished it's still perfect for regular party! It's the thought that counts anyway and I love that you reclaimed garbage and have created something! That is the spirit of the whole thing anyway. Have a super weekend!

  7. Thank you for hosting! I have had so much fun this week! I made and posted a project every day and even managed to sneak one in today before the Linky closed :) You have got me looking at everything in a whole new way! Wonder what I can repurpose next!
