| Mesh Pot Scrubber |
Last night, I rescued a mesh bag that originally held oranges from the trash. Initially, I thought this would be a great beach bag to hold our sunglasses, lotions, combs, etc. The sand would fall right through the mesh and, if I did need to rinse things off, not a problem...I could rinse bag and all.
However, when I started ripping off the orange produce label it was not coming off cleanly and I thought the bag looked kinda tacky, so on to idea number two! The next idea was a simple mesh pot scrubber. We buy mesh pot scrubbers at our house anyway, so this would be very useful in our kitchen. The mesh is not too coarse and will not scratch my pots and pans, either. It probably took less than 10 minutes to make too!
To make the pot scrubber -
- Cut the end off of the bag and roll it down on itself to create a mesh circle.
- Now, to sew it. Take a length of fishing line, thread it through a needle, and tie a knot. I did a doubled line and knotted the end of it (a line about 18-20 inches).
- Next I wanted to stitch around the circle and then pull it tight, much like making a yo-yo rosette. I stitched any other areas that needed to be tightened down, and that was all there was to it. I now have a mesh pot scrubber for no $ and the mesh bag will not go into the garbage just yet.

I do this too, after seeing as a tip on tv haha, collect my little fruit and veggies nets and when I have enough (in the old continent they seem to be way smaller lol) make a little ball of them and voila :D
ReplyDeleteYou are just too smart! I reuse my mesh bags in the garden shed - for holding bulbs 'til planting time, tools, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the party! I hope to see you weekly for Time Travel Thursday.
